Neymar Jr.’s decision to extend with Paris Saint-Germain has plenty of journalists and media outlets in their feelings. Recently, Brazilian journalist Milton Neves stated his objection to the 29-year-old remaining in the French capital.
The latest to voice their displeasure over Neymar’s choice to remain with the capital club is Sport journalist Joan Mª Batlle, who didn’t hold back his criticism of the PSG superstar in his column.
In the column, Batlle summoned the full strength of every FC Barcelona supporter who wanted the Brazil international back at the Camp Nou and ripped him for his choice not to come.
“The illusion that Barça would count on Neymar has faded again before the only reality that surrounds the Brazilian footballer and his environment: money. Neymar left Barça for money and has not returned and will not return for money,” Batlle wrote.
“The revolution that Barça needs does not go through Neymar, and deep down, it is a relief that the club has a free hand to rebuild itself from good professionals who integrate and commit to the values of Barça. Goodbye, Neymar, and that at PSG it goes as it has done so far, here we do not want traitors.”
Yes, plenty will say they’re overreacting and don’t know how to handle rejection, but can anyone blame them? For years, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have been able to secure the best Brazilian players. Neymar decided to buck that trend and leave for PSG during his prime years.
If Kylian Mbappé decides to extend his contract with the French giants, expect a similar reaction from the Spanish media over that decision.
