Video: ‘We Were Able to Be Effective When We Needed to’ – Riyad Mahrez on Manchester City Advancing Past PSG

It was the Parisien-born Riyad Mahrez who put the dagger to his hometown club. The 30-year-old scored three of the four Manchester City goals as the English club came out victorious against Paris Saint-Germain in their UEFA Champions League Semi-Finals matchup.

After advancing past the capital club, Mahrez spoke to RMC SportCanal Supporters relayed his comments over appearing in these significant matches and scoring to help Manchester City secure a birth in the Champions League final.

“I think it’s deserved over the two matches, we deserve to pass, we were able to be effective when we needed to. We were average in the first half but we were able to raise the level then, we can score three or four goals,” Mahrez said.

“Then they lost their nerves, they took a red, that made our job a little easier. To score in big matches is what you want when you are a footballer. I managed to score three goals in the two games, it’s good for the team. We were very solid as I said, we deserve to pass.”
