Neymar’s contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain is now official as the 29-year-old will remain in the French capital until 2025. The Brazil international is spending the rest of his prime years with Les Parisiens, as they once again look to capture the UEFA Champions League during his time here.
“The whole PSG family is happy with Neymar’s extension,” Pochettino said. “The challenge for our players, with all the talent they have, is to behave as a team and to put their talent at the service of the team. This is our big challenge for the future. It’s easier to build with talented players like Neymar, who has extended for several years.”
Pochettino also answered a question as to whether he thinks Neymar will look to convince Kylian Mbappé to extend his contract too.
“The ambition is there,” Pochettino said. “This shows the club’s ambition for the present and the future. Neymar’s extension shows the club’s ambitions for today and the medium and long-term future. Everyone must understand that the ambition of the club is to improve and achieve success beyond the difficulties that one may encounter in the present moment.”
