Last summer, Paris Saint-Germain decided not to offer their captain, Thiago Silva, a contract extension, and the 35-year-old decided to sign with Chelsea FC on a free transfer. A few months later, Silva would be joined by his former manager Thomas Tuchel, who PSG sacked in December.
The two are now headed back to a second consecutive UEFA Champions League final. Meanwhile, the capital club is going home after a difficult loss to Manchester City in the semi-finals.
After Chelsea’s victory over Real Madrid, Thiago Silva spoke to RMC Sport, where Canal Supporters relayed his comments regarding his departure from PSG.
“It’s special for both of us. Unfortunately, Paris failed to do the job. It was sad for the players, for me too, but we are happy here,” Silva said. “Here, it’s different: every weekend we play a Champions League match, and I think that in the end, we are better prepared. This is the demonstration today.”
“PSG made their choice, to let me go, to free Tuchel too. It’s hard to explain, for me, it was sad, but the most important thing is that we are happy here with Chelsea. It is also our dream to win the Champions League this year, but it’s not revenge.”
