Report: PSG Not Expected to Allow Marquinhos to Represent Brazil in the Tokyo Olympics

Paris Saint-Germain is planning to not allow defender Marquinhos to go on and feature for the Brazilian national team’s U23 side in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, according to a report from Le Parisien.

Marquinhos is aiming to once again represent Brazil in the Summer Games. The PSG defender was allowed to play for Brazil in the 2016 Summer Olympics, where he helped the side claim a gold medal.

This time around, PSG will not side with Marquinhos and allow him to play in the upcoming Summer Games, which will kick off in late July.

PSG will also have to work with Neymar on this matter as the forward reportedly also wants to play for Brazil in the Summer Games. But as with Marquinhos, PSG much prefers the two stars to choose between either playing in the upcoming edition of the Copa America or the Olympics and it is not expected that either of the two will decline to play in the former.

Marquinhos has already won both a gold medal and the Copa America in his career.
