PSG Mercato: French Football Media Outlet Examines the Seven Players That Could Be Sold by Paris SG This Summer

Before Paris Saint-Germain thinks about recruiting players, they’ll need to sell some players to help fund purchases this summer. L’Equipe (via Culture PSG) revealed the seven names that could be heading on the way of the capital club.

Financial Fair Play rules will be less restrictive than in previous seasons, given that UEFA understands the economic difficulties of the clubs. In that case, PSG must also sell players to finance its future purchases this summer, and there seven names are cited by the sports daily as ready to be sold.

As mentioned by France Football, Rafinha is one of the players who could quickly leave during the summer. He did not convince manager Mauricio Pochettino, and he will therefore be sold in the event of an interesting offer. The French media outlet reports that RCD Espanyol de Barcelona is one of the Spanish clubs eyeing the player.

In the attack, however, several names appear. The first is Mauro Icardi, and the Argentina international does not even hide his desire to leave. Several clubs from Italy are showing interest in the striker. It will not necessarily be easy for PSG to obtain a quality transfer sum for the 28-year-old striker, under contract until June 2024 and with a large salary.

On the other hand, it seems easier to sell Pablo Sarabia. The former Sevilla FC player is questioning his future in Paris with his playing time in his second season has decreased, and Paris will not close the door if he wishes to leave. He would be valued at around € 15-million and would have interest from Spanish clubs. He also has the opportunity to show himself at the UEFA European Championship after receiving a surprise call-up.

Still, in attack, Arnaud Kalimuendo could be sold with his purchase option of €6-million.

In defense, Thilo Kehrer will likely not remain with PSG and has three years after being bought €37m from Schalke 04. Pochettino quickly noted the player’s colossal confidence deficit, despite several suitable recent matches as a central defender.

Two years from the end of his contract, the 24-year-old is the defender closest to exit. Layvin Kurzawa is the other player PSG is wondering about after another complicated season, but the 28-year-old’s future is not decided.

Finally, it will be necessary to find a solution for Alphonse Areola, who had a solid season at Fulham FC, even though it was relegated. The 28-year-old goalkeeper does not want to return to PSG as a backup, as the French giants count on Navas as No. 1. However, Areola’s salary slows down any possible loan. He will therefore have to make a transfer, possibly to London where he feels comfortable.
