Paris Saint-Germain might have made a mistake in letting Thiago Silva depart as they’ve missed not only his play on the pitch but his leadership at times.
As a result, the capital club could be in the market for a veteran defender on the backline, which is why they’ve expressed interest in Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos.
Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano stated on “The Here We Go” podcast (via Top Mercato) that the French giants are the only club that took stock of the situation of Sergio Ramos.
“For Ramos, the situation is still the same. At the moment, it’s open since all Sergio Ramos wants to understand what Real Madrid’s plans are for the future and Zidane’s plans.”
“He is still waiting and will decide after the contract offered by Real Madrid, but PSG is the only club to be in contact with Sergio Ramos. But the situation with Real Madrid is still open; nothing has been decided,” Romano said.
Ramos’ contract with Real Madrid expires in June, and contract talks with Los Blancos continue to linger, but both parties have yet to agree to a deal.
Then there are photographs surfacing of Ramos’ agent, René Ramos, meeting with Sevilla FC’s Monchi at a Sevillian café. It will be interesting to see whether PSG decides to heat up their pursuit of Ramos or choose to look elsewhere for center-back depth.
