Italian National Team Manager Mancini Provides a Significant Update With Verratti’s Notable Injury

Italian national team manager Roberto Mancini stands confident that Marco Verratti could be fit by the start of the Euro 2020 tournament.

Verratti missed Paris Saint-Germain’s last fixtures of the season due to a slight right knee injury. The Italian midfielder is still recovering from this injury, although Italian national team officials felt confident enough with his recovery progress to call him up for the team’s upcoming pair of international friendly fixtures.

Mancini sees promising progress with Verratti’s injury and as he noted during a press conference ahead of the upcoming fixture against San Marino, he sees that the PSG midfielder may be a full go by the time that the Euros kick off.

“I think Verratti can make it,” Mancini said. “He has made major improvements in 15 days.

“Verratti is recovering faster than expected.”

Mancini has not yet named the official squad list that will represent Italy in the upcoming Euros. Still, Verratti is well expected to not only make the final squad list but also go on to be a feature starter in the tournament.
