France Puts Kylian Mbappé on Its Preliminary List of Players for the Tokyo Olympics This Summer

Kylian Mbappé has not hidden his desire to represent the France national team at the Summer Olympics. As the European country begins narrowing its squad, it will send to Tokyo in a couple of months.

L’Equipe (via Foot01) reveals that the Paris Saint-Germain forward is one of the 83 players on the list of pre-selected players that Les Bleus would like to have on the squad. At 22, Mbappé is eligible for the under-23 rule and doesn’t need to occupy one of the three overage spots.

As the capital club negotiates a contract extension, the ability to play at both the UEFA Euro’s and Tokyo Olympics will be part of the discussions, and it’s likely if Mbappé extends his contract, he will play in both tournaments.

Suppose Mbappé remains with PSG and heads to Tokyo. In that case, the French media outlet speculates that Les Parisiens would have to wait until September to recover Mbappé, considering all the summer football he will be playing.
