Former French international Bixente Lizarazu provided for his take on what Neymar must do to help Paris Saint-Germain win the UEFA Champions League.
PSG fell short in its bid to reach the Champions League final this season as Manchester City eliminated the side in the semifinal round. Neymar played in both fixtures of the tie and did his part by creating multiple goal-scoring chances but still, PSG did not manage to score an open play goal in either fixture.
Lizarazu believes that for Neymar to now go on to lead PSG to Champions League triumph, he would not need to change his play style but rather the way he approaches matches. The former Bayern Munich talent backed his claim about the PSG star forward during his talk with Telefoot.
“I think he must really progress as a mental leader,” Lizarazu said. “Technical leader, he is, he is too strong, there is nothing to say. Mental leader, he is not and, if he wants to bring this PSG to win the Champions League, he must be much more collective and respect his teammates … he can not make the difference alone.”
For now, Neymar is hoping to help PSG finish off the ongoing campaign as domestic double winners with triumph in both the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France competitions.
