Florenzi Details What PSG Must Do to Mount a Champions League Comeback Against Manchester City

Paris Saint-Germain defender Alessandro Florenzi revealed the keys behind a potential UEFA Champions League comeback against Manchester City.

PSG heads into the semifinal second leg encounter with Manchester City down 2-1 in the tie. PSG had multiple promising attacking sequences over the first leg but did not manage to score an open play goal.

Florenzi notes that Manchester City posed an arduous challenge to the reigning Ligue 1 champions but did not see that the side dominated the match, which he detailed further during his talk with PSG TV.

“First half was very, very good, but in the second half we lost a little composure,” Florenzi said. “Their goal was a bit lucky and we weren’t able to play as we wanted to. The second goal was even luckier than the first, but nothing is lost yet. We can still qualify.”

Florenzi is well confident that PSG can overturn the deficit in this tie. PSG would need at least two goals to mount a comeback, which the Italian defender sees that his side is well capable of doing so.

“If we play like the first half, we can beat them, of course, but we will have to do it for 90 minutes,” Florenzi said. “It won’t be easy though.

“It will be above all a mental game and we want to take it really home.

“I think that with our quality we can do it. They have their way of playing by keeping the wall, so we’ll need to press well together and have our own strategy. But I’m really confident for this game.”

PSG has scored a combined seven goals over two Champions League away knockout stage matches this season. The French side would need another high-scoring outing if it aspires to reach the final of this competition.
