‘We Put in a Good Performance’ — Paredes on PSG’s Key Ligue 1 Win Against Strasbourg

Paris Saint-Germain clinched a much-needed 4-1 win Ligue 1 against Strasbourg on matchday 32. This is in response to league-leaders Lille OSC’s recent league win over Metz.

Leandro Paredes had a key showing in the match thanks to his goal and assist recorded. Paredes is typically relied on to simply play the role as a holding midfielder, but in this match, the Argentine went on to contribute for PSG on the scoresheet.

As Paredes told PSG TV, this match was one in which his teammates knew very well that a win was necessary.

“It was important to win today because we knew that Lille had won,” Paredes said. “We put in a good performance and we remained focused for the whole 90 minutes and that’s what made the difference. We knew that after the great win in Munich, we would need to put in another big match here, in order to prepare in the best way possible for the match on Tuesday.”

Paredes now will look ahead to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second leg fixture against Bayern Munich. The PSG midfielder missed the first leg of the tie due to a yellow card suspension. But in this upcoming massive fixture, he may earn a start in the match as the side aims to maintain its narrow one goal aggregate lead over the Bundesliga powerhouse.
