Verratti Analyzes How PSG’s Picked Up the Key Ligue 1 Win Against Metz

Marco Verratti returned to action in Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 win against Metz. The Italian midfielder went on to provide for a standout performance in the match with 13 tackles won and three goal-scoring chances created.

Overall, PSG orchestrated one of its best attacking showings in a while. The reigning Ligue 1 champions recorded 19 total shots in the match with six of them being classified as big chances.

As Verratti pointed out after the match, this performance from PSG was crucial considering that he sees no match has been a smooth one for the side in Ligue 1 this season.

Verratti spoke further (via PSG TV) following PSG’s key win on just how his side was able to handily clinch the three points.

“I think that this year, there are no easy matches,” Verratti said. “Every team is giving it their all, every team is looking to win matches and to put in the performance of their lives against us.

“We tried to play more than them, you could see that in the number of chances created, we showed that we wanted to go out and get this win. That was our objective and we did it well.

“It’s never easy, they have a team that is full of quick players and play on the counter, so we needed to play with balance, but it was the opportunity to take hold of the ball and to create chances. I think that in the second half, we created lots of chances and in the end, the win is deserved.”

PSG now has a mere four matches remaining in its league schedule. For the moment, PSG holds a two point lead over Lille OSC, although the latter is set to clash with Olympique Lyonnais on the matchday.
