The stage is set for the UEFA Champions League semifinals as Paris Saint-Germain will be taking on Manchester City in one half of the final four.
PSG clinched a spot in the semifinals of this season’s Champions League knockout stage following its 3-3 away goals aggregate win over Bayern Munich. Neymar and Kylian Mbappe proved to be the key players in the tie thanks to their decisive goal contributions in the first leg.
For Manchester City, the current Premier League leaders advanced to the semifinals thanks to its 4-2 aggregate win over Borussia Dortmund.
Unlike with Barcelona and Bayern, PSG does not have an extensive history with Manchester City. However, they did meet in the Champions League quarterfinals over the 2015-2016 season where City advanced via a 3-2 aggregate win. Kevin De Bruyne proved to be the key player over the tie with two goals scored.
The first leg of the tie will come in two weeks with the opening contest being held from the Parc des Princes.
In the meantime, PSG will have key fixtures upcoming such as against AS Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1 and Angers in the Coupe de France. For Manchester City, the side will have pivotal matches ahead such as the FA Cup semifinal encounter with Chelsea.
Both teams are still vying for a treble-winning campaign.
