Mauricio Pochettino is aiming to see Kylian Mbappe commit to extending his ongoing stay with Paris Saint-Germain.
As each day passes, more speculation and rumors continue to mount over Kylian Mbappe’s footballing future. Mbappe still has not yet provided for a final decision over whether he aims to stay at PSG for his upcoming prime years or depart for another club.
For Pochettino, he aspires to see Mbappe remain at the club, but as with many, the Argentine manager is also not sure whether the French forward plans to do just that.
Pochettino spoke to Le Parisien about his time with Mbappe so far this season and why he aims to see the PSG star prolong his stay with the French powerhouse.
“We’ve had a great relationship for three months, like with Ney,” Pochettino said. “I force myself to speak French to him, but he can speak to me in Spanish or English. We discuss well. I have a lot of affection for him, his character, what he is on a daily basis And of course the great player he is.
“I hope he will remain here for many years. And I’m not saying this in a selfish way, but for the good of the club and Paris. He can help the club achieve great things.”
For now, Mbappe and PSG have their focus set on a possible second consecutive Champions League semifinal appearance. PSG will first have to get by the Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals.
