Neymar Wins the 2020 Samba D’or for the Best Brazilian Footballer in Europe

Despite 2020 being an awful year due to the coronavirus pandemic, Neymar Jr. endured his most successful season with Paris Saint-Germain, which saw the 29-year-old help the capital club reach the UEFA Champions League final. 

Neymar made 27 appearances in 2019-20, where he scored 19 goals and registered 12 assists. Furthermore, the first time the Brazil international was healthy for the knockout stages for PSG’s knockout stage fixtures. 

With the Champions League having the summer to itself in August, many were served a reminder of how good Neymar can be when he’s on top of his game. As a result, Neymar would pick up the Samba d’Or for 2020. 

In 2019, Alisson Becker would come away with the award, and this marks the fourth time that Neymar wins the Samba d’Or, and if the 2020-21 season has shown, it likely won’t be the last. 

PSG has a chance to reach the Champions League final. Then there’s the Copa América this summer, so plenty of high-profile opportunities for Neymar to showcase his talents to a large audience and win it next year.
