There is no denying that Neymar has grown to become one of the top playmaking talents in football today. This skill set was on display over Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first leg fixture against Bayern Munich.
Even though Bayern recorded far more total shot attempts, PSG simply made the most of each of its goal-scoring opportunities. For instance, Neymar was the catalyst in PSG’s first two goals of the match as he notched assists in both scores.
As noted by UEFA’s official website, Neymar now sits at 29 career Champions League assists. This puts the Brazilian forward at a tie with Andres Iniesta for sixth on the all-time Champions League assists list.
Neymar is surely far from done in racking up Champions League assists and with one more such goal contribution, he will tie former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez for fifth on the all-time list.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the career leader in Champions League assists with 42, so this number may be out of reach for the Brazilian forward for now.
