Navas Reflects on the Decision to Leave Real Madrid for PSG

Keylor Navas took some time to reflect on his call to leave Real Madrid for Paris Saint-Germain over the 2019 summer transfer window.

With Thibaut Courtois set as Real Madrid’s starting goalkeeper, Navas elected to depart from the Spanish club in 2019 to move to PSG. The Costa Rican goalkeeper has since not only become PSG’s clear-cut starter at the position, but he has also remained as a reliable player in the biggest matches in club football.

Leaving Real Madrid for PSG was not an easy call, but this is a decision that Navas does not look back on with any regret. For one, as Navas told France Football, the family culture within PSG has helped him feel like he is at home.

“First of all, I have great teammates, not only in terms of football but also in terms of people, which allows me to feel comfortable and serene in the dressing room every day,” Navas said. “Then, I feel close to the different people who work at the club.

“You can feel that PSG is a family club and I like that.”

One could argue that Navas has been PSG’s most important player over the past month. The French side will surely need him to maintain his current top form for the rest of the ongoing season.
