Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has not shied away from voicing his opinion on matters such as transfer rumors or comments from other club officials. For instance, Koeman hit back at Leonardo over his comments earlier this year regarding a possible transfer pursuit of impending free agent Lionel Messi.
Since then, the rumors linking Messi to Paris Saint-Germain have not gone away. A new recent report noted that PSG has put forth an offer on the table for Messi. Still, the Argentine is yet to provide for a final answer on whether he plans to remain at Barca or if he prefers to end his tenure with the club over the upcoming summer transfer window.
As expected for a manager, Koeman refused to jump into the transfer speculation by responding to this rumor. In a pre-match press conference ahead of Barca’s upcoming La Liga fixture with Granada, Koeman merely responded (via Marca) to the rumor by providing his stance of wanting to see the Argentine remain at Barca.
“I’m not interested in PSG, I don’t know if it’s true,” Koeman said. “I hope he stays with us. For me, he should finish here because he’s spent his whole life here, but ultimately it’s a decision that he will have to make.”
Speculation over this matter will continue to mount on as the ongoing season nears a close.
