Thilo Kehrer shared a behind-the-scenes perspective on the similarities between former Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel and the club’s current manager in Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino has already garnered support from those within the PSG locker room. For instance, Mauro Icardi is among the players who have publicly backed the Argentine manager and his work so far with the club.
Now-former PSG manager Tuchel did also have his fair share of supporters among the PSG players. And overall, there are some similarities between Tuchel and Pochettino as managers.
For Kehrer, he sees somewhat of resemblance between how they communicate and work with the players, which the German defender went in-depth about in his talk with the German-based outlet Sport Bild.
“They are buddies in their own way,” Kehrer said. “Thomas Tuchel is a very communicative coach; he attaches great importance to creating a good working atmosphere and tries to make everyone feel comfortable. On the other hand, he is very demanding in terms of tactics and discipline, as well as in terms of team structure and attitude.
“With Mauricio Pochettino, you can say that he has worked in England; his relationship with the team is also very close, and he insists a lot on the fact that each of us must believe in our own strengths and, above all, be able to exploit them.”
Pochettino is not as vocal on the sidelines as other managers may be. But as the PSG players can attest to, the Argentine manager is quite open with his players, whether on or off the pitch.
