Paris Saint-Germain will be taking on Lille OSC in what is setting up to be the biggest Ligue 1 fixture of the season so far.
PSG currently stands at first place in the league standings, but Lille is right behind the reigning French champions as they are at points level. Thus, this upcoming matchup between the two could end up deciding on which team will stand victorious at the top of the league table by the season’s end.
Leandro Paredes did not feature against Lille earlier this season in their 0-0 draw result in league play. However, the Argentine did play against Lille last month in the Coupe de France match where he helped PSG clinch a 3-0 win.
As Paredes detailed to PSG TV, the French powerhouse is expecting a tightly contested battle.
“Of course it’s going to be a difficult game,” Paredes said. “We’re going to face a team that plays good football, who can defend well and get good results away from home. It’ll be a game between two leaders and we’ll have to prepare ourselves well.
“We’ll approach it like we do every other game, but we know it’s a very important match and crucial for the run-in in the league. We want to put in a great performance and get the win in order to put ourselves in the best possible position.”
If the Paredes does make PSG’s starting 11 for this match against Lille, he would surely be expected to have a standout performance.
