Luka Modric says top players like Paris Saint-Germain star forward Kylian Mbappe are welcome to join Real Madrid.
Mbappe remains at a standstill in regards to his footballing future. The French forward is still yet to sign a new contract extension deal with PSG, although he is set to become a free agent next year when his ongoing contract expires.
In the meantime, clubs such as Real Madrid have been linked with a potential summer transfer move for Mbappe. As of late, the Spanish powerhouse has been the main club in the rumor mill for such a move.
As plenty of his teammates have done in months past, Modric refused to advocate for Real to sign Mbappe when asked about the forward during the pre-match press conference for the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second leg fixture between Real Madrid and Liverpool.
However, the Croatian midfielder (via AS) would welcome a player like Mbappe to the club if such a move were to transpire.
“There are a lot of rumors and news about players coming and leaving,” Modric said. I can’t comment on that.
“Kylian Mbappe is a great player, he has showed us many times with PSG and the French national team. Great players are always welcome at Real Madrid, of course.
“We’ll see what happens next season, but what I can tell you is he is one of the best players in the world.”
For now, Mbappe is set on helping lead PSG to a second consecutive appearance in the Champions League final.
