Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero will depart the English club this summer when his contract expires. Despite being 32-years-old, there’s plenty of interest for the veteran forward, including from Paris Saint-Germain.
The capital club does have two strikers on the squad with Moise Kean and Mauro Icardi; however, the 21-year-old Kean is on loan from Everton FC, so his future remains up in the air as Les Parisiens try to negotiate with The Toffees to keep the young striker.
Meanwhile, various rumors link Icardi back to Italy, as Italian sides such as AS Roma and Juventus FC have reportedly shown interest. As a result, having two strikers having uncertain futures with the French giants explains why PSG is interested in Agüero.
Nonetheless, French football pundit Ludovic Obraniak commented on L’Equipe du Soir (via Paris Fans) that PSG should focus on keeping their two current strikers in Kean and Icardi.
“Agüero? Ok, it could match with Neymar and Mbappé, but you can’t put them on like pearls. You have to know when to stop. You may have the opportunity to keep Kean, a young boy who has a real contribution to his time at PSG,” Obraniak said.
“What about Icardi? You paid for it, and it is there. You think that you can easily go and lend him to AS Roma and that they will quietly take 70% of his salary, which must be pharaonic. All this is not settled.”
Icardi is under contract until 2024, so Les Parisiens don’t need to sell the player; however, they could raise funds for Kean transfer. As for Kean, they’ll need to try and negotiate with Everton, and if the Premier League club’s price is too much, they could lose the 21-year-old.
With the potential for no Kean, it would explain their interest in Agüero.
