Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar Jr. is facing criticism for his performance against Lille OSC. The capital club fell 1-0 and conceded their top spot atop Ligue 1 to Les Dogues, as the 29-year-old received a red card in the final minutes.
Furthermore, some French football pundits are criticizing how he played the loss. In his appearance on La Chaîne L’Équipe (via Canal Supporters), journalist Didier Roustan stated that against FC Bayern Munich, Neymar needs to avoid dribbling to create and focus on the passing.
Roustan states that Neymar in the number ten role would be the wise decision to play the superstar. If the French giants want to come away with the first-leg result, PSG needs Neymar in the creative role.
“Wouldn’t they put Neymar in the No. 10, and he walks around, he can cause them problems and distribute rather than dribble; Mbappé on the left, where he is currently strong, and Kean center-forward,” Roustan said.
With no Marco Verratti or Leandro Paredes in the midfield, Neymar will be in charge of creating chances for PSG. Should the capital club come away with a positive result, it will need to be with Neymar leading the way.
