Neymar and Kylian Mbappe led the way for Paris Saint-Germain in the team’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first leg win over Bayern Munich. Mbappe scored two goals and Neymar recorded two assists en route to a 3-2 win.
Bayern forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting simply watched as his former teammates shined for the French powerhouse. But this was far from new for the former PSG striker.
However, Choupo-Moting believes (via L’Equipe) that Bayern must be cautious in the return match against PSG because the French side is more than just Neymar and Mbappe.
“Obviously, you have to be more than vigilant against Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, but also against the other players, not only against those two,” Choupo-Moting said. “Of course, they are more in the spotlight, they are the superstars of the team.
“But there are so many good players next to them that we will have to watch. They are a team full of stars, but it is exactly the same for us. PSG is usually confident and wants to beat all their opponents, but it is exactly the same for Bayern.”
Neymar and Mbappe have had multiple key standout performances over this season’s Champions League competition. Neymar arguably carried PSG during the group stage while Mbappe has so far scored six goals over this season’s knockout stage. The two will now be aiming to finish off Bayern over the upcoming second leg of the tie in order to clinch a spot in the semifinals of the tournament.
