‘We Have Established a Real Bond’ – Leandro Paredes Opens up About His Friendship With Neymar

One of the more underrated friendships in football is Leandro Paredes and Neymar Jr.; the two have become close friends since the Argentina international arrived in 2019 at Paris Saint-Germain.

During his interview with Le Journal du Dimanche, Paredes revealed a little concerning their friendship. The 26-year-old touched on how Neymar was the first player to welcome him to the squad when Paredes arrived from FC Zenit Saint Petersburg.

“Since my arrival, we have established a real bond. In training or out of it, we are happy together. I keep teasing him. I recently placed a fake snake in his locker at the training center,” Paredes said.

Whenever both are missing a fixture, cameras always capture the two together. Furthermore, their bond spills to social media, where they’ve had wagers in the past over football whenever Santos FC and Boca Juniors play in international competition.

Also, Paredes has become the unofficial bodyguard for his teammate. Whenever a player decides to take the liberty and foul Neymar, the first player to rush to the scene is Paredes. With PSG needing the 29-year-old on the pitch and referees not protecting their players, it’s good for the capital club to have Paredes out on the field.
