Video: ‘You Have to Respect Them but Not Fear Them’ – Lyon Manager on Their Fixture Against PSG

Paris Saint-Germain will have a heavyweight fight this weekend as they travel to Lyon, France, to take on Olympique Lyonnais as both sides are equal in the Ligue 1 standings at 60 points.

The capital club is looking to carry their Coupe de France victory over Lille OSC into this matchup. After losing last weekend to FC Nantes, the French giants can’t afford to drop points. However, don’t expect Lyon to play scored as they look to jump over PSG in the standings.

In his press conference, manager Rudi Garcia touched on the approach his side will have heading into this matchup. Canal Supporters relayed Garcia’s words from his meeting with the media.

“The two teams know each other well, but each Ligue 1 team knows all the teams. Sometimes there are surprises with teams that are more “chameleon” than others. When you have strength, you have to build on it. The victory in Paris in the first leg shows us that we can beat this team; it is the interest of this first leg,” Garcia said.

“Now it’s another moment, another coach at the head of PSG, with a different tactic. It will be a different game; it is one of the eight best teams in Europe. Even if they have a worse league this season, with seven defeats, the team has won the most in the league. You have to respect them but not fear them and play to win.”
