Paris Saint-Germain was coming off advancing past FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. The capital club wanted to carry that momentum into their domestic competition as they welcomed FC Nantes, who’s battling relegation, to the Parc des Princes.
The fixture got off to a good start as the French giants scored the opening goal; however, in the second half, Nantes would score two goals to leave with a 2-1 victory.
After the match, manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke to Canal Plus, where Canal Supporters relayed his words discussing the loss.
“You always have to improve. We will have to analyze this meeting and see where we had difficulties. These matches are inexplicable. We controlled the first half, and in the second half, we could have scored a second goal. We conceded the 1-1 goal, and then we suffered, especially in the transitions,” Pochettino said.
“They didn’t have many chances, but we could have scored another goal. When there are defeats like this, there is no excuse. You have to do a mea culpa and assume your responsibilities. Lyon? All matches are vital; that doesn’t change. Once again, if we want to win the championship, it will be an essential match.”
