Despite a sluggish fixture offensively, Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona played the second-leg to a 1-1 draw. The capital club scored off a penalty kick conversation from Kylian Mbappé; meanwhile, the Spanish side received their lone goal from Lionel Messi.
Antoine Griezmann featured twice in the starting eleven in the away and return legs for Barça and was relatively quiet on the score sheet. After crashing out in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, the 29-year-old spoke to the media, where Mundo Deportivo relayed his comments.
“We gave a good match, and we played a great game. We missed putting them in; it’s a shame. We had four clear and then the penalty. In the second half, it was more difficult; [PSG] defended more. It’s another thing in the first leg, we wanted to play a great game, give our best, and it couldn’t be. Now we have LaLiga and the Cup; it is our goal,” Griezmann said.
“We had some very clear, and we have failed. Navas had a great night. Today the goalkeeper played a great game, and we must congratulate him. It is not because of the penalty that we did not pass. We had three heads up, and we have failed. Head high, to improve and come back next year.”
