Ahead of the second-leg between Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona in their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie, many wondered about Neymar Jr’s status for this fixture. On the eve of the match, news finally came down that the 29-year-old will not partake in the second-leg at the Parc des Princes.
During his press conference with the media, manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke about leaving Neymar off their lineup against the Spanish side. Canal Supporters relayed the Argentine tactician’s comments over the issue.
“It’s not a decision; it’s a state of affairs of a player who cannot play,” Pochettino said. “He is not in the condition to compete. He made a great effort to come back quickly. But the goal is not just the Champions League. It’s a difficult time for him, but I hope he can come back as soon as possible.”
