Paris Saint-Germain routed Dijon by a 4-0 final score on Ligue 1 matchday 27. It was a convincing showing from PSG, especially as the side had just come off of the loss to AS Monaco.
For the PSG players, many of them aimed for a statement performance in the match. Among the players who urged for such a showing was Kylian Mbappe.
One camera feed from Canal+ picked up Mbappe’s halftime message during the fixture. In it, the French forward spoke to Marquinhos about the urgency to score more goals in the match in order to send a message to the other Ligue 1 title contenders.
“Marqui, tell everyone that we’re staying in,” Mbappe exclaimed. “If we score five or six, it’s a message to the others. I go home with the match ball.”
PSG did not score five or more goals in the match and Mbappe did not notch a hat-trick to take the match ball. But still, it was a strong performance from PSG.
