The Stats Behind Verratti and Florenzi’s Performances for Italy Against Northern Ireland

The Italian national team opened up its 2022 World Cup qualifying schedule with a fixture against Northern Ireland. Overall, Italy controlled the tempo of the match en route to a 2-0 win.

Paris Saint-Germain talents Marco Verratti and Alessandro Florenzi earned starts for Italy in the team’s 4-3-3 setup. Verratti took on playing time as a base midfielder while Florenzi played as a right-back.

Both players had a key impact throughout the match.

For Verratti, he finished the match with 67 passes completed, seven ground duels won, two tackles logged and one dribble recorded. The PSG midfielder featured in the entirety of the match.

Florenzi also had his way throughout the match as for one, he assisted winger Domenico Berardi for the opening goal of the match. The PSG right-back also tacked on for five long balls completed, four clearances recorded and one interception.

Both players certainly are in top form for both club and country.
