Danilo Pereira was among several Paris Saint-Germain players who earned a call-up to feature for their respective national teams over the now ongoing March international break.
Pereira featured as a starter for Portugal in its 2022 World Cup qualifying fixture against Serbia.
The PSG talent had a promising performance as the team’s main central defensive midfielder in its 4-3-3 setup. Pereira went on to complete 31 passes, notch six interceptions, log three ground duels won and record two clearances.
Pereira was not much of a threat when Portugal was in possession as he did not create a goal-scoring chance in the match or go on to record a shot on target in the match. Still, he made his presence felt when the side was defending against Serbia’s high-octane attack.
Portugal finished with a 2-2 result against Serbia. Pereira and Portugal will now face Luxembourg to finish off its international fixtures for the ongoing March window.
