Marco Verratti recently returned early from international duty with the Italian national team due to a thigh injury. Italian national team officials elected it was best to keep Verratti out from its upcoming fixture against Lithuania and grant him an early release back to Paris Saint-Germain.
Now, there is a growing concern with Verratti’s new injury. As noted by RMC Sport, Verratti could go on to not only miss PSG’s upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against Lille OSC but also the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first leg clash against Bayern Munich due to this thigh injury.
Verratti will undergo medical exams to further examine the severity of his injury. From there, PSG’s coaching and medical staff will make a final determination on whether he is fit enough to take part in the team’s upcoming season-defining matches.
The Italian midfielder has already missed three of PSG’s Champions League fixtures so far this season. Overall this season, the PSG talent has dealt with muscle, adductor, hip and plantar fascia injuries.
If Verratti is unable to go for the Lille and Bayern matches, the team will surely need other midfielders to step up in his absence.
