Report: Di Maria Agreed to Take a Pay Cut in the Contract Extension Deal With PSG

Angel Di Maria and Paris Saint-Germain recently came to terms on a new contract extension deal. Di Maria was set to become a free agent at the end of the season, but the Argentine wound up agreeing to a one-year extension deal with PSG that comes with an option for a second year.

Before Di Maria signed off on the new deal, he agreed to a pay cut for next season, according to a report from L’Equipe (via Onze Mondial).

Di Maria currently makes €13 million annually with his current contract deal with PSG. It is currently not known as to how much the Argentine playmaker will now be making for his new one-year extension deal.

Considering the economic impact from the recent coronavirus shutdown coupled with the upcoming summer transfer window, it is apparent that PSG has an aim to shore up and set aside as much funds as possible under the current uncertain financial times.
