Over the last couple of transfer windows, Paris Saint-Germain has seen the departures of significant youth products, with Tanguy Kouassi and Adil Aouchiche being the latest.
However, the capital club could see a high-profile youth product leave next summer. Xavi Simons’ contract expires in June 2022, and Les Parisiens won’t allow for a departure to occur as they’re hoping to strike a contract extension with the 17-year-old.
According to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who stated in his Here We Go podcast (via Paris Fans), the French giants are working on a new deal for the teenager. They believe Simons to be part of the club’s future. He’s sure that the club will work in this direction.
The 2020-21 season is the first in which Simons sees first-team minutes. Also, the capital club is bringing him along slowly rather than throwing him to the wolves. The club and those in charge don’t want to overwhelm the young player and affect his confidence.
