The coronavirus pandemic has affected Paris Saint-Germain’s financial revenue. It’s not to say they won’t have money to buy players; however, the capital club will again downsize its transfer budget.
As a result, the French giants want to be key figures in the free transfer market. The prominent discussions surround FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, but there’s another name that Les Parisiens are looking at, and that’s Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj.
In an interview with Radio Punto Nuovo (via Culture PSG), Mario Giuffredi, the agent for Hysaj, spoke about the discussions with PSG.
“It is one of those clubs with which we discussed, I discussed with Leonardo. There is nothing concrete. From there, to set up a serious negotiation, it takes a lot more,” Giuffredi said.
Currently, the only right-back of significance is Alessandro Florenzi, who is on a loan deal from AS Roma with a €9-million option to buy clause. Behind Florenzi is Colin Dagba, who has made 19 appearances for PSG this season, but perhaps they’ll like to upgrade, which explains their interest in Hysaj.
PSG sporting director Leonardo and the club’s hierarchy haven’t revealed which way they’re leaning on Florenzi. Nonetheless, they could choose to keep Florenzi and have a rotation that consists of the 30-year-old and Hysaj.
