Juventus remains as a transfer contender for Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi, according to a report from the Italian-based outlet CalcioMercato.
The report does not allude of serious interest from the Italian side for Icardi. But for the moment, the Argentine striker is on Juve’s current transfer radar.
This is not the first time that Juventus has been linked with Icardi. Over much of the recent summer transfer window along with the months that proceeded, Juve was regularly in the rumor mill for the former Inter Milan striker.
For one, a report from CalcioMercato last year noted of interest from Juventus over a possible Paulo Dybala and Icardi player-for-player swap deal. Still, there has since been no traction to this possible deal.
Icardi has been able to turn around his campaign as of late. After a sluggish start to the season due to injuries, the Argentine is now scoring a high rate, such as with his seven goal contributions in his last nine fixtures in all competitions.
Both PSG and Juventus will soon have difficult decisions to make regarding their forward depth. Moise Kean and Alvaro Morata are in the midst of season-long loan moves with their respective clubs. If Kean goes on to stay with PSG and Morata returns to Atletico Madrid, there may be speculation regarding a possible Icardi to Juve move.
