Mauricio Pochettino provided a glimpse of the approach that Paris Saint-Germain will have for the upcoming UEFA Champions League return fixture against FC Barcelona.
There have been plenty of storylines heading into PSG’s return match against Barca. For one, the reigning Ligue 1 champions are currently without several players due to injury, including Neymar and Alessandro Florenzi.
More so, there continues to be much talk on whether PSG is prepared for this fixture, especially considering its roller-coaster form as of late.
Pochettino is not much paying attention to the noise surrounding PSG’s showdown against Barca. As he revealed following the Coupe de France win over Brest (via RMC Sport), Pochettino is being simplistic with his approach for this return fixture and feels confident that his side will be well-prepared to face the Catalan giants once again.
“In the two months I’ve been in France, I’ve seen a terrible panic about injuries, preparation, everything that comes before a game like the one we’re going to play against Barça,” Pochettino said.
“I don’t have that conditioning because I’ve only been here for two months. There are different approaches, it’s not the same to play in the French Cup, League 1 or the Champions League.
“The team will be ready to compete. We’ll try to find the best possible strategy and the best game plan to move on to the next round.”
PSG will be looking to punch its ticket to the Champions League quarterfinals for the second straight season.
