Pochettino Opens Up on Takeaways from First Two Months as PSG Manager

Mauricio Pochettino has shared details on what it has been like to manage Paris Saint-Germain so far.

Pochettino recently completed his second month in charge as PSG manager. Overall, the Argentine manager has had his ups and downs over his current PSG run.

Under Pochettino, PSG has had grand wins such as against Olympique de Marseille in the Trophee des Champions and against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg. On the other hand, there is some slight concern with the team’s league form, especially as the side now sits at third place in the league standings.

Pochettino opened up to AFP (via Le Parisien) on what he has taken away from his current PSG managerial run.

“In two months, we have lived through a lot of difficult times, because we have played thirteen official matches, with enormous intensity,” Pochettino said. “There was also the coronavirus, which we contracted within the management, at different times. And the situation of the team, with a lot of injuries. We had to adapt to a reality that was changing every day.”

The Argentine manager knows the high expectations of what comes with such a managerial job. More so, he also recognizes the importance of having a strong relationship with PSG sporting director Leonardo.

“With Leo, we had a good understanding from the start,” Pochettino said. “When you’re at PSG, the responsibility is to win every match. No need for him to tell me, it’s in our DNA, to the staff. I also believe that a technical staff needs work, time, the players need to adapt to a new philosophy, and us to them.”

PSG will have several key matches in all competitions upcoming, which could be season-defining for Pochettino and company.
