It could surely be up for debate on who has been Paris Saint-Germain’s best player in Ligue 1 so far in 2021. The likes of Keylor Navas, Marquinhos and Kylian Mbappe have also stepped up their play for the club as of late.
The Centre International d’Etude du Sport (CIES) Football Observatory recently unveiled its ranking of the best players within Europe’s top five leagues so far in 2021. CIES produced an “innovative methodology” that looked further into which players have been the performers so far in Europe this year.
The CIES listed FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi as the top player so far in Europe as a result of his 92.5 performance index.
For Paris Saint-Germain players, Marquinhos topped out as the highest-ranked talent on the list thanks to his current performance index of 83.1. Overall, this ranked him at third within Ligue 1 players behind AS Monaco’s Guillermo Maripan (86.3) and Lille’s Jose Fonte (84.5).
Marquinhos has so far appeared in 11 league matches in the calendar year and has helped PSG pick up six clean sheet wins.
