Marco Verratti and Alessandro Florezni Return to Paris After Picking up Injuries While Playing for Italy National Team

When the FIFA international break came, every Paris Saint-Germain supporter held their breaths for the players heading for international duty. The capital club has two critical fixtures on the horizon against Lille OSC in domestic competition and the first-leg in their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal matchup.

As a result, the French giants were hopeful that no players would pick up any injuries ahead of an important week for the club. However, it seems as though injuries for key players are beginning to surface.

Sky Sport Italy reports that Marco Verratti and Alessandro Florenzi will not play in Italy’s final 2020 FIFA World Cup Qualifying fixture against Lithuania. The Italian media outlet adds that Verratti has a bruised left-thigh; meanwhile, Florenzi is dealing with muscle fatigue.

PSG isn’t alone in having injuries ahead of the Champions League clash as Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski also picked a knee injury while playing for the Poland national team.
