‘I Try to Push the Limits’ – Kylian Mbappé Discusses Current Mindset After Reaching 100 Goals in Ligue 1

Kylian Mbappé is coming off making history, scoring his 100th goal in Ligue 1. The 22-year-old has spent all his career in France’s top-flight league, having spent time with AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain.

It took Mbappé 142 Ligue appearances to reach this accomplishment. The capital club forward spoke to PSG’s official website to discuss this achievement and his current mindset.

“I think I’m someone with ambition, it’s a scary term, but I see it more as not wanting to set limits. I try to push the limits as much as possible, and I want to see where it can lead me,” Mbappé said. “For a long time, I received criticism for not scoring enough youth team goals, especially for doing the show.”

“In today’s football, you have to score. And to score, you have to repeat the gestures; you have to work all this in training. When you’re in the rough, no one else can make you get up. You have to be mentally strong and do everything to understand that you can overthrow mountains. When I come out on the pitch, I tell myself that I have to give my all to be the best I can be.”

Les Parisiens will embark on a difficult path once club play resumes after the FIFA international break. The French giants will take on Lille OSC in a significant Ligue 1 fixture as the race for the league crown remains tight. Then they’ll head to Munich for its UEFA Champions League quarterfinal fixture in their first-leg fixture against FC Bayer Munich.

Nonetheless, the elephant in the room continues to be the ongoing contract extension talks between PSG and Mbappé. With June approaching, the capital club will need to make a decision. If Mbappé doesn’t extend, they’ll need to consider selling the 22-year-old to recoup a substantial transfer fee.
