Since the arrival of Keylor Navas, Paris Saint-Germain has solidified its goalkeeping position. Before the Costa Rica international came on board, the capital club went through a couple of keepers like Kevin Trapp and Alphonse Areola. They didn’t cut when given the opportunity as the number one.
After Real Madrid decided to move on from Navas, Les Parisiens could scoop the 34-year-old, and despite his age, he has provided security behind the defense.
In last season’s UEFA Champions League group stage fixture at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium against Real Madrid, Navas put together a ten save performance against his former club and assured PSG supporters there was no need to worry about the position anymore.
Navas recently interviewed with PSG Le Mag (via Goal) and spoke about various topics concerning his time with the French giants. One conversation that the interview touched on is over Navas feeling more appreciated by PSG.
“Yes, I feel the affection of everyone here in Paris,” Navas said. “I will always be grateful to the Real Madrid fans for the unconditional support they have given me and still give me today, even though I changed teams. And my teammates in Madrid have also always believed in me. Here at PSG, things are a little different. Everyone believes in me, and I try to give them that confidence back every time. match.”
There’s no denying that the capital club appreciates Navas during his two seasons thus far in Paris. Despite having plenty of game left in his tank, Los Blancos decided to show him the door after purchasing Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea FC.
Regardless, Real Madrid’s questionable decision has been PSG’s gain.
