French Football Pundit Argues Rafinha Deserves a Bigger Role Within Mauricio Pochettino’s Squad

Rafinha has seen a limited amount of playing time for Paris Saint-Germain under new manager Mauricio Pochettino. Until recently, the midfielder played roughly 55 minutes since the Argentine tactician took over the managerial role.

However, in the capital club’s fixture against Dijon FCO, the 27-year-old saw the start in the midfield, where he played 82 minutes.

The Brazil international assisted on one of the four goals in PSG’s win over Dijon. Furthermore, Rafinha added one key pass and went 69 for 75 on his passes with an accuracy percentage of 92-percent.

For Canal Football Club pundit Pierre Ménès, the inclusion of Rafinha is a good sign, as he stated in his Canal Plus blog.

“There’s not much to learn from this match except that Rafinha has shown Pochettino he deserves another role in the Paris rotation. Not necessarily that of the holder; we all agree on that. But not either to be ignored as it could be since the arrival of the technician,” Ménès wrote.

“So good, everyone will say that there is nothing to boast about after this great victory because it was “only” Dijon. I would point out that less than a month ago, Lille and Lyon won only 1-0 against DFCO.”

If the capital club continues its venture in the Champions League while fighting for the Ligue 1 crown and the Coupe de France, Pochettino needs to rotate players. Rafinha will have plenty of opportunities to continue to find significant minutes.
