Former Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko has backed Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe to pick up multiple Ballon d’Or wins over the course of his career.
Mbappe is just coming off of multiple massive performances for PSG. The French forward scored goals against Barcelona and Lille OSC that helped PSG clinch a spot in the quarterfinals of both the UEFA Champions League and Coupe de France.
Mbappe’s recent performances have been lauded by many and for Shevchenko, he has been taking note of the PSG star’s world-class prowess.
More so, Shevchenko claims (via Goal) that Mbappe is well capable of clinching multiple Ballon d’Or wins.
“We know how fantastic he is,” Shevchenko said. “He has an exceptional future. He’s a boy who needs to win many Ballon d’Or awards because he deserves it.”
Mbappe is yet to win the Ballon d’Or so far over his career. The French forward has had one top five finish in the final rankings of this award, which came in 2018 when he placed at fourth place.
So far this year, Mbappe is well already making a case to being among the early contenders for this prestigious award.
