Former French National Team Manager Claims Mbappe is Already at the Level of Messi and Ronaldo

Former French national team manager Raymond Domenech said Kylian Mbappe is already at the world-class level of both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mbappe is currently in the midst of a strong run of performances for PSG. In three different competitions over the past month, Mbappe bagged goals against clubs such as Barcelona, Lille and Olympique Lyonnais.

The French forward played a massive role in helping PSG reach the Champions League quarterfinals, regain first place in Ligue 1 and clinch a spot in the Coupe de France quarterfinals.

Domenech is so impressed over Mbappe’s recent performances that he already has the PSG star up with the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.

Domenech spoke to L’Equipe about Mbappe reaching 100 career Ligue 1 goals and the forward’s top play as of late.

“If he stays in the French championship, he will break all records, he has already beaten all the marks at his age,” Domenech said. “We do not say it enough, but we have a player who has the level of Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. We forget it, we trivialize it. If he was Brazilian, we would make a mountain of him. We would talk about it all day long, always in a good way.

“Here, this is not the case, he still has flaws. Sometimes he wants to do too much. But with his stats, he is already at the top of world football. You have to repeat it every time.

“Is he playing too much for the stats? Messi and Ronaldo, it’s the same. Their stats make their teams win. Goals and assists matter.”

Mbappe surely aims to add to his already stout season so far, which could include finishing the campaign as a treble-winner with PSG.
