Former Costa Rican Goalkeeper Claims Navas Can ‘Play Up to the Age of 40’

Former Costa Rican goalkeeper Luis Gabelo Conejo backs Keylor Navas to have a lengthy career beyond his current prime years.

Navas has been playing like one of the best goalkeepers in the content as of late. The Costa Rican goalkeeper is coming off of standout performances against the likes of Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 and against Lille in the Coupe de France.

Conejo still works closely with Navas as he is currently the goalkeeping coach for the Costa Rican national team. And as he detailed to the radio show Aquiii Colombia (via Marca), Conejo foresees that Navas certainly has what it takes to play for multiple more seasons.

“The end of his career is he who is going to put it on, he really is a person who works very well, takes great care of himself and I hope that the injuries do not affect him at any time as they affected him four years ago,” Conejo said.

“Because of his lifestyle, because of the way he behaves, he can play up to the age of 40 or forty-odd years without any problem because he is very athletic. That is already a matter of wanting to continue and enjoy what is done and have hope and I think that for now, he has it and that is fundamental in the performance of a footballer.”

Navas will have two more seasons on his PSG contract following this season. With the way that Navas has been performing in all competitions as of late, the Costa Rican goalkeeper could go on to remain as PSG’s goalkeeper for many more seasons.
