Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos is remaining confident in his team for its upcoming UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash against FC Barcelona even as it will be without Neymar and Angel Di Maria.
Neymar will be out for this upcoming Barcelona showdown due to an adductor injury while Di Maria is slated to be unavailable as a result of a right thigh injury.
PSG has heavily relied on the two talents so far this season. Neymar finished Champions League group stage play as the leading goal-scorer on the team while Di Maria currently leads the team in total assists in all competitions this season.
Still, Marquinhos, as he told France Bleu, remains confident that his side will put up a good fight against the Catalan giants.
“They are two important players, we recognize the qualities they have, the power they have to decide a match,” Marquinhos said.
“Football is a collective game. You need a team, a collective, more than one player or the other. We’re going to have to get by without them. We need this victory.”
PSG is at the least aspiring to have both players back for the second leg of the tie and for its critical upcoming Ligue 1 fixtures against the likes of Lille OSC and Olympique Lyonnais.
