Video: ‘We Played a Bit Like a Final’ – Mauro Icardi Comments on PSG’s 2-0 Win Over OM

Mauro Icardi scored in Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-0 victory over Olympique de Marseille. The 27-year-old strike marks the second time this season he has scored against OM after scoring in the Trophée des Champions.

After the match, Icardi spoke postgame to discuss the win. Culture PSG relayed the Argentina international’s comments where he touched on winning the 100th derby between the capital club and OM.

“Yes, it’s important to win, it was a derby, and we played a bit like a final,” Icardi said. “We wanted to win, and we knew today that it was necessary to win again. We lost in the league at home, we got our revenge, and that was important.

Then Icardi discussed the play that resulted in him picking up his goal, which either went off his head or back and into the net.

“I positioned myself at the near post and tried to put the lead. It hit me in the back, and it went in the goal,” Icardi said. “The important thing is that the team won in the end with the two goals from Kylian and me. That’s what’s important, not who scores.”
